Lamb
Deb & Ian Clark and their daughters established the Medicine Ridge Farm in the Medicine Lodge Hills, NW of Red Deer in 1981 after extensive experience with sheep, cattle and horses elsewhere in Canada and Britain.

The sheep flock is grazed on rolling pasture and mixed aspen and spruce of Central Alberta’s parkland. Deb and Ian have spent the last 10 years introducing new types of sheep from Europe in order to improve the eating quality of the lamb they produce. The Ile de France and Charollais breeds have been selected since the late 19th century to provide tender, lean lamb to discriminating French consumers.

Production at Medicine Ridge Farm is based on natural grassland, supplemented by local hay and grain, balanced with vitamins and minerals. The entire flock is maintained at a very high health status eliminating the need for antibiotics or growth promotion hormones and enhanced by low stress management techniques.

“We believe that Medicine Ridge Farm is on the leading edge of fresh food production. The product is identified from conception to consumer in order to optimize the protection of human health. The Clark family endeavors to improve the lamb they grow by natural selection, careful management and a desire to ensure that consumers of Medicine Ridge lamb can continue to enjoy tender, flavourful, healthy meat.”
